This year marked NetZero Tech Ventures’ first active presence at NYC’s Climate Week, a landmark global gathering of investors, entrepreneurs, corporations, and policymakers, featuring over 600 official and unofficial events across the city.
Here are a few highlights and accomplishments from our week:
Enhancing the network of global early stage climate tech investors
We have now officially embarked on a dedicated effort to engage leading U.S. funds and CVCs to support our portfolio companies with capital and market access. In the past few months we engaged over 30 US investors, and held more than 10 face-to-face meetings. As Israeli startups target U.S. and European markets from day one, these partnerships are essential to support their growth, even in the early stages. The positive feedback we received from funds reinforces that we are investing in the breakthroughs the world urgently needs.
De-Risking Climate Tech Investments – Insights and Opportunities from the Israeli Ecosystem
The De-Risking Climate Investments event we organized attracted over 100 investors and entrepreneurs, showcasing practical strategies for mitigating the financial risks associated with hard science climate deep tech solutions — from nuclear energy to hydrogen tech and beyond. A special thank you to our partners Startup Nation Central, DKI, Mile Advisory, Climate Solutions Prize and NewOak.
Here are some key takeaways:
🌍Top investors shared their strategies for identifying and investing in transformative climate and energy innovations, including via vehicles that enable them to invest in high-risk, high-reward ventures that others may overlook.
đź’ˇ Israeli tech is showing its ability to navigate and thrive in high-stakes sectors. The resilience and ingenuity of our entrepreneurs is proven once again in the face of adversity.
🔋US corporations and utilities, including the New York Power Authority (NYPA), discussed their experiences collaborating with Israeli energy and climate tech companies — underscoring the value of global partnerships in tackling the climate crisis.
đź’ˇ Climate deep tech ventures like Chiral Energies and nT-Tao engaged in insightful discussions with Shmuel Kedmi and Benjamin Kafri about how founders can work alongside investors to de-risk their high-stakes journeys, milestone by milestone.
Insights for Success from Seed to IPO
Yael Weisz, our VP of Business Development, had the opportunity to share insights with entrepreneurs going from Seed to IPO at the Climate Tech Investment event hosted by The Atlas Capital & Climate Tech Coalition. Yael participated in a panel discussion alongside Todd Khozein, the Founder and Co-CEO of SecondMuse, Ayub Ansari, Principal, Anthesis, Reynold D’Silva, member of the Singapore Computer Society’s AI Committee, and Juriaan Kellermann, CEO at Fokker Next Gen.
Connecting with US Climate Tech Hubs
We also got a glimpse into the new Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine, the National Innovation Hub for Energy Storage, which offers grant opportunities for R&D in the battery space and other valuable resources. This initiative is led by the talented Fernando GĂłmez-Baquero Ph.D. from Cornell Tech.
We look forward to continuing these important conversations and continuing our work to build strong bridges between Israel and US.
