We’re proud to announce the latest company to join our portfolio: Timna Elements, launched in collaboration with T3 – Technion Technology Transfer, the Israel Innovation Authority, and other investors.
Born out of breakthrough technology developed by Prof. Youri Gendel and his team at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and led by Dr. Gil Barnea and Dr. Anastasia Kipnis, PhD, Timna Elements is redefining how critical metals are recovered from mining waste, low-grade ores, and electronic waste.
Instead of relying on toxic chemicals and conventional processes that struggle to recover metals from low-grade ores and complex feedstocks, Timna’s proprietary hydrometallurgical platform combines selective leaching with advanced separation technologies to efficiently recover copper, gold, silver, and platinum-group metals while minimizing chemical consumption, energy use, and secondary waste generation.
This couldn’t come at a more important time. As AI infrastructure scales and the global energy transition accelerates, demand for critical minerals is growing rapidly, along with the urgency for Western countries to secure resilient supply chains. Yet recovering these metals efficiently and sustainably remains one of the industry’s biggest bottlenecks. Technologies that unlock critical minerals from low-grade ores and waste streams will play a critical role in strengthening resource security while reducing the environmental footprint and cost of metal production.
